Writing from Destin, Fla.: off-Grid.
Shoot!
I don’t know when it happened, probably yesterday. As you can see from the top of this and my last entry, I’m out of town from my regular RL home base. Taking care of the kids on vacation while the SO is in a conference meeting keeps you occupied, doesn’t leave much time for the very side matters of blogging. But it has happened; I’ve passed 10,000 hits.
The pity is that a lot of the recent hits that have driven me over the magic number have probably been “false drops,” as librarians refer to search results that have no bearing on the question. I’m still getting searches related to bank closures, with people probably looking for RL information on banks. I wish I could help them, and I have no idea how CNN’s search system spidered up this blog, but there it is. I have no idea where I would be if people were looking for actual SL information (grin).
Ah, well; I won’t complain or worry the bone too much. I’ll take my 10, 200 and something hits, and I’ll run with them. Some of the traffic is real, surely…please?

ahah :) I’m sure plenty of it its real :) and congrats!
Where’s the champagne? :D
In the same place as the caviar (grin).
10,000?? Per day or total? Geesh, I’m excited when I break 50 per day. ;)
(Laughing) That’s total. It’s actually up to 10,400 now. I’ve been averaging in the neighborhood of the high 40s hits per day for some time. I cover a variety of subjects, and provide (I hope) a fresh and independent viewpoint on topical subjects, which may help bring in traffic. But I also tag the Dickens out of my posts, which may help bring in all sorts of folks — even those not interested in Second Life (grin).
Hi Harper. Thanks for the comment on my blog! Oh, I just LOVE the Destin area having grown up in Pensacola. Take care…and congrats on your blogging popularity. Nice job!
That works out nicely (grin).
My family comes down here to Destin for a yearly combined conference and vacation, which is why I’m here right now. It can be a very nice place; but the kids are frustrated right now because the surf flags are stuck at red/purple. (Blame it on the leftovers of Hurricane Dolly; all that wave action just keeps on reflecting back and forth across the bowl of the Gulf of Mexico.) We took a chance yesterday — the SO got knocked down and black and blue (and Kitt’s a better swimmer than me!), and we all got stung a little by leftovers of jellyfish tentacles. Fortunately, we had the sense to get a jug of vinegar before we hit the beach, so that was no problem.
We’re hoping things will calm down some before we leave tomorrow, but we’ll see. Any road, I should be back on the Grid by tomorrow night, or Sunday night/Monday morning at the latest.
