Old Masters, New Dresses

I discovered Lady Thera Art and Fashion the other day, when I was reading an article by Kitty Otoole.  She was talking about what she claimed was “Possibly the most beautiful gown in the virtual world,” and the piece looked attractive enough to me that I decided to check it out myself.

This is the gown Kitty wrote about, and is textured from a painting by Gustav Klimt.  I can understand her admiration for it; Klimt’s use of color was unrivaled by any other painter in his period.  My photo here is rather rushed, and doesn’t do the gown justice.  Add to that my choice of skin/shape and hair, which still don’t satisfy me entirely, and I think I could improve on this.  For a better shot, go to Kitty’s article; she got it right.

While I was there, I found something that works better for my preferred color of hair and skin:

This outfit is based on Van Gogh’s Starry Night, which I know well; I sell it in my store (grin).  I like this better, as my normally red hair complements the intense blues and greens of the confection.  The undershirt “blouse” represents the stars in Van Gogh’s sky; but you can leave that off as you choose.  There are also armlet sleeves (as gloves), two gauzy prim skirts with a more diffuse pallete of color, and both long and short pants, for when you’re interested in something formal or casual.

The prices?  Up there — L$850 for the Klimt piece, and I think the same for this Van Gogh blue.  But the quality is worth it in the long run.

    Hi-thanks for the shout-out!

They’re both beautiful gowns, but the ‘Starry Night’ gown looks absolutely stunning on you, especially with the gorgeous shade of red you wear in your hair…
    Yep, you look fabulous chuck!

The really nice thing about the Starry Night is that it’s what I call a versatile; like some of Ginny Talamasca’s dresses, you can strip off the gown’s prim skirt and still look smashing in a casual situation, like heading for your local pub or club. (I prefer the Blarney Stone.)
