Last normal update before the contest closes in a few weeks. The good news is that we have enough entries for a contest. The bad news is that there’s only 13 entries so far. That’s way down from past years. I always work hard to get the word out, but it doesn’t seem to be taking this year. So I’m calling on all of you who haven’t entered yet, or who haven’t written anything up on the contest this year — help me out. I want to have the toughest judging year in the eight-year run of this contest! Start submitting entries to the group, and spread the word! With 50 grand in linden dollars up for grabs, half to the winner, it’s worth the time to enter — you’ll be able to afford a couple of Catwa heads and a substantial makeup suite, and still have money left over for a new dress! Plus fame and fortune (at least within Second Life). So enter now, and get the word out!!!

Jem and I managed to snag a good box at the theatre for this year’s Academy Awards. And, even though we weren’t nominated for anything, well, this is the Oscars. You dress to the nines for this show!
Some years are better than others when it comes to choice of evening gowns, and this year was exceptional. You could also find them in the most unusual of places at times. Mine came from a fairly conventional sale, at the current round of the Liaison Collaborative. But Jemmy found hers at, believe it or not, We <3 Role Play. A big ball skirt like this isn’t the kind of thing you normally find there, and so she’s going up first to show off.
This absolutely gorgeous confection was created by Kouse Singh for The Crystal Clothing Company, and it comes in several colors. Personally, I like this even more than some of the recent “Cinderella” gowns at the current round of Enchantment, and I just modeled one of them for the last article! It’s just that the shimmer and shine of the texture here, especially with shadows turned on, makes it incredibly realistic and beautiful in appearance.
Jem’s gone for an Akeruka head now as well. She had less time invested in her system shape, but it looks to me like she struck gold as I did, and found a head that matches her system shape quite nicely. I’d really encourage you to take a good look at AK. Akeruka is much less expensive than Catwa (the current 500-kilo gorilla in system heads) — L$4,000 for the head and Bento animations as opposed to L$10,000 for Catwa; and the number of available heads is substantial. When you buy, be sure to let your favorite cosmetic creators know what you’re buying as well (although there is an Omega relay for AK heads as well). I’ve only found a few, especially SlackGirl, who create makeup for Akeruka, and we should encourage more work for an excellent line of attachments.
Here I am in the gown I chose this year. As I say, this is still available (as of yesterday) at The Liaison Collaborative, and it’s from Just Because, again in multiple colors. I do love ball gowns, but lately I’ve been choosing slinkier styles, and this one hugs all the Maitreya curves quite nicely.
