Hallowe’en 2018 — Hidden Treasures

Jem and I were planning on doing an outfit or two from the new round of Tres Chic, which almost always have some great outfit to write about.  Sadly, this time we didn’t find any clothes in the event (though I’m wearing hair and boots from this month’s round).  But we did find goodies we loved while we were in the sim.  After all, sales like Tres Chic, or sales inside individual stores, are meant to draw business in, so that customers will take a look at all the other goodies inside.  In an event’s case, you can think of the event as the “anchor store,” and any other stores around benefit from the business the anchor draws in as collateral sales.

Add on to that, the outfits Jemmy and I chose were good picks for Hallowe’en “themed” photos.  We love Hallowe’en on the Grid, with its license to get as extreme in look as you choose; but none of us at Around the Grid g

No, our tastes run a touch more … exotic … than that.  But also sexier, in some ways.  It appears that I infect my new writers with the desire to become space princesses, the way I start them off; Diana last time, and her dress-up as a cosmic club dancer, and now Jemmy and me going out of this world in our choice of skin and costume.

And said space princesses need appropriate costumes, hair and jewelry.  It can get tricky to find costumes that seem “space-y” enough, when so much of Second Life couture is geared toward bog-standard fashion.  But, as Jem has said before, adding an exotic or otherworldly element to a dress can change it from something contemporary to fantasial/futuristic in a moment.  Hollywood’s doing it for sci-fi shows, then discovering the same costume elsewhere in a contemporary context — it helps keep the costume budget in control.  A classic example is an episode of Glen Larson’s Buck Rogers In the 25th Century.  (Example 1; Example 2)
