Moon Magic

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”

Moonlight

There’s some interesting things at the current events and the Fantasy Faire, but I decided to dip into my back Inventory, and stumbled across this dress. Conan was kind enough to serve as mon bel amour for a shot (well, he does live in Québec), and here we are.

Moonlight becomes you
It goes with your hair
You certainly know
The right thing to wear

Moonlight becomes you
And I’m thrilled at the sight
And we could get
So romantic tonight

Walking in Dublin

Put on my green pump shoes
And I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of my Dublin crew
In the middle of the pouring rain
Daniel O’Connell, won’t you look down over me
Yeah, I got a first class ticket
An’ I’m as green as a girl can be

Then I’m walking in Dublin
Walking with James Joyce striding at my heels
Walking in Dublin
But do I really feel the way I feel?

With many apologies to Marc Cohn

Moon Gypsy

“Don’t tell a girl with fire in her veins and hurricane bones what she should and shouldn’t do. In the blink of an eye, she will shatter that ridiculous cage you attempt to build around her beautiful bohemian spirit.”

Melody Lee, Moon Gypsy

“Don’t compare her to sunshine and roses when she’s clearly orchids and moonlight.”

If I Have To Do Winter ….

… then let me have a nice warm cashmere sweater. Something that’ll keep me warm even if the shoji is thrown wide open. This one may have a huge gap up the center of the back, but it does the job, it’s stylish, and I just keep the fireplace stoked.

Sojourn in Sindaria

When last we met, Jemmy was giving me the Dickens — in a joshing sort of way — over not properly introducing Morgan to the readers … in a Technicolor photoshoot of colorful alien skins and fantasial costumes.

To which … I agreed that she was right. And, as Morgan looked on in fascinated horror, I started to make my plans ….

Shovel Sand, Not Snow

My fellow bloggers all say they enjoy the snow. Me, I look forward to retiring one day so somewhere a tad warmer in the winter than State College, thank you. Not too warm; I don’t want to exchange the freezer of wintertime Pennsylvania for a broiler during the summer. (Who knows? maybe I’d better not worry about it and just live with what I get dealt.) Until I find the ideal place to live, though, at least I can find sandy winter beaches in Second Life. (Like this place, in the Cape Florida sim.)

Cargo Deck

It’s hard enough getting around a spaceport, they’re often such huge and rambling places.  When the hovercab drops you at the wrong entrance, though, that adds on even more complication.  Especially when the entrance the silly AI chooses is the entrance to the cargo deck — a place where nobody in their right mind is walking around, at least if they don’t have legitimate business there.  And then add that the cargo deck is a cargo deck — it’s 5,000 metres up from the surface, to get it out of view of the local burghers.  And I’m up here on a grid floor in spike-heel boots!

Some days, you can’t lin for the woosing ….

Oh, well; at least I’m warm in the wind … well, mostly warm; but at least I thought to put a top on under the traveling outfit.

Riverwalk Sunday

I’ve found a new friend, who calls herself Morgan Vanderzwaan.  (Don’t ask me where she came up with the name; I don’t get some of these references myself.)  Morgan says she comes from around Holland, Michigan — which should keep Harper, the native Michigan girl, happy, lol.  Anyway, Morgan is willing to do an occasional photo shoot, though she’s not into writing.

Lunch Break

Note:  WordPress is starting to feed out new software for their blog.  Harper’s been playing with it, and has gotten mostly used to it, but I’m just beginning to learn the thing.  However, I like some of the gimmicks it apparently has, and Harper’s given me a tip sheet on what to do, as well as the new “style book” for laying out an article, so here goes ….

Graduate school was always a busy time for students; it had been since the medieval days of old Europa on ancient Earth, and it hadn’t changed just because it was now the 48th Century C. E.  But wise students always found some kind of time to come up for air from their studies if they wished to preserve both their grades and their sanity.  Zana Sherman was no different from other students in that sense.  True, as a cyborg, she had a few not-to-sneeze-at advantages over her organic friends, like a brain and body that did not tire in the same way as an organic body did.  But the personality and thought processes that resided in that computer body still functioned in ways similar to a flesh-and-blood person; and that part of her still fatigued in ways similar to a flesh-and-blood body.  Even in this, some things never seemed to change, no matter how many centuries went by.
