Together We are Strong

together-we-are-strong

Another thing that frustrated me about this past week of no computer was that I had work locked up in it, in a barely-begun stage.  Thankfully, I was able to get going on it during the weekend here.  That was some badly needed free time, to figure out how to mask out the background on the basic pictures (ChromaKey green wouldn’t work in every case) and assemble the final photo.  Even after getting everyone in position, it didn’t come together until I decided to replace the background with posters.  I’m not too displeased with the final result, though.  Donald Trump likes pretty women; well, here’s seven of them, about as sexy as he could desire, and each one is strongly tempted to stick a dagger in his ribs and kick him in the teeth.

All seven are me.  These are all of the primary characters I write my stories for:  Ariel, Jo, Sharra, Latifah, Keiko, Maren and Dannta.  All seven are women, and assuredly multiethnic (Ariel is a cyborg from the 48th century, and Dannta is an alien residing in our world and time)1.  All seven are professionals:  entertainer, physician, foundation chairwoman, teacher, businesswoman, lawyer and executive director.  And, to be brutally frank, all seven are pissed at the direction current affairs in the United States are taking.  This photo shows their obvious solidarity with the goals of the Women’s March; but they also protest against the assaults on immigrants and minorities and a more science-based environmental policy; against the attempted forcing of governmental affairs toward a more big-business-friendly, laissez-faire model; against the coming assaults on education, arts and the humanities — in short, against about anything the current administration and its ultra-conservative supporters in Congress plan to do over the next two to four years.

(Yes, this blog is getting political, possibly edging toward strident.  But, babes, men and women, it’s not as strident as it could get.  You oughta see my husband’s Facebook shares; he’s so much looser than I am, this photo is pale by comparison.  He feels betrayed by his party; he’s a fiscal conservative, but liberal on social issues, and the rise of the Tea Party and Trumpites has left him disgusted beyond bounds.  This will probably be the last thing in the blog for some time, unless I get too aggravated again — entirely possible, considering the actions of the current administration — but there will almost surely be more until we can be shut of this man and all his works.)

1 I wish I’d had a Hispanic and an Arab or Muslim character now, but I’ve never developed those before.  My next story will need to address that.  (Anyway, I’d have needed to shrink the individual women down to fit nine women in this shot; not to mention the even longer post work.)

What comes between me and my Lazuri?

Lazuri 1

…Nothing at all.

Especially this latest set, Perles de Gloire, sold for Zuri Lyric by PurpleMoon, which is perfect for a strapless ball gown or other high-octane fashion event.  The star of the full suite is this two-piece back-duster necklace, which will probably require a little adjustment to get to lay properly.  Zuri and Poulet, however, include a graphic showing how to do it in three easy steps, so it shouldn’t be any trouble at all.  (As usual, there is a master script for changing the colors of all pieces built into the necklace, or you can adjust individual pieces after changing the necklace around.  All elements from the jewels to the pearls can be altered.)

Lazuri 2

There are bracelets for both arms — two-piece sets again, so you can make the strands as thick or thin as you like, or leave off the big central bauble and wear the two-strand piece alone.

Lazuri 3

…along with earrings, and two rings, one for each hand.  I hope you enjoy them….

…but do remember to put something on besides your Lazuri before going out on the town for the night.  (You can always take it off later….)

The Grand Master

Illustrated Man blog

If El Greco had painted miniatures in his prime, no bigger than your hand, infinitely detailed with all his sulphurous color, elongation, and anatomy, perhaps he might have used this man’s body for his art. The colors burned in three dimensions. They were windows looking in upon fiery reality. Here, gathered on one wall, were all the finest scenes in the universe, the man was a walking treasure gallery. This wasn’t the work of a cheap carnival tattoo man with three colors and whiskey on his breath. This was the accomplishment of a living genius, vibrant, clear, and beautiful.

Ray Bradbury, The Illustrated Man

=====

Ray Bradbury, one of the founding authors and Grand Masters of science fiction, has been dead a little over a year now. Today is his birthday (born in 1920 in Waukegan, Ill.), and I decided to take a look at him, in part by letting you take a look at me interpreting, like a pale ghost, one of his more famous anthologies: The Illustrated Man.

Rocket forward to the remainder of the tribute.

How about a little piece of whimsy for a Monday morning to get you started, or give a bit of a lift for anyone not in North America?  This photo, by “NirvanaMist,” takes us to the beach.  But the company with us is…interesting:

NirvanaMist is a new addition to the Koinup membership, with only a few pages of work yet at this writing.  There is potential here, though; witness this other piece I selected, a nude titled Misty in Blue.  It’s early days yet, but I think we may have someone starting to develop their talent, and I hope you’ll encourage Nirvana by stopping by and commenting.

Goldfinger Redux

Well, I finally got the courage, and I posted a few nude photographs of myself to Flickr.  Not something I would do in Real Life, but in the fantasial world of Second Life, different things can happen.

As it was, I still built myself a nice, private, and sealed photo studio at a Secret Location, and only I know the coordinates.  I wasn’t about to do this in a public photosphere!  Now that it’s done though, I kinda like the results.  Nothing I’ll ever win an artistry prize for, but it’s a beginning….

You’re welcome to have a look on my Flickr stream.
