//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js One year ago today, on April 15th, I became a Linden and started working for a company that completely changed my life. I am so thankful that I found Secon…
Congrats to Berry! She’s one of the best-known of us all, and can definitely be a voice to and for us at the Lab. (Lab, not “Labs,” as Berry correctly points out.) This article gives a lot of good information for us to chew over and use.
Strawberry Singh may be a Linden these days, but she still can do separate posts — just not plug stuff. She put up a challenge on the Community Forum a few days ago. Below is my contribution to the thread.
The photo on the left is from my November 2010 article, “Sweater Weather.” The one on the right I just took yesterday. Skins were improving by November 2010, although makeup tattoos (what we think of more as Bakes On Mesh these days) were still a few months away. This is probably the best photo I took in 2010; many of the others I’m embarrassed to confess to these days (grin).
There have been some changes in my real life that I wanted to share with you and be completely transparent about. I have been hired by Linden Lab as their …
This is going to be an exciting time for Berry. We’ll miss her in the regular blogging trenches of Second Life, as I’ve already told her on her article; but I understand her feeling that, as an employee of the Lab now, she needs to put a firewall between roles.
As she notes in her article, please don’t contact her directly to solve any problems; that won’t work, and will load her down with unfulfillable requests. File a normal ticket. Be a nice avatar.
I’m not happy about the closing myself; but hopefully they’ll be reopening as soon as possible. Second Life isn’t just about fashion and sex, I promise any non-Residents who read this blog, no matter the reputation gained back in the Era of the Great Hype. Many of us try to just plain create something beautiful out of this world we can shape to our skill and desire, and the LEA has been instrumental in fostering this.

//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js I used to get about 10 to 20 people contacting me on a daily basis asking me to help them style their avatar or figure out which skin or mesh body part to …
If anyone’s looking for some help in styling their avatar, read this article by Berry Singh! It can be a hard job — I tried it once for someone else, and we never quite jelled together. But it has its fulfillments as well.
You probably saw Harper’s piece a while back about my not being able to write much for the blog anymore. The good news is that things aren’t quite as drastic as I may have led her to think. It’ll still be fun to get some time for writing, but it probably won’t be any worse than I already am, lol.
Anyway, when I let the boss know I’m still available, she asked me to do a fast one to link to the current issue of Eclipse Magazine. Their cover story this month, written by Cajsa Lilliehook of It’s Only Fashion, is on Strawberry Singh. But it’s not the usual fashion piece, like you’d see in the past on her (I’ve done some checking). Berry is one of the more prominent and outspoken women within Second Life working for preservation of women’s and immigrant rights. This lets her in for a lot of “criticism” — if you can really call it that. Please be sure to read the article.
I finished up a survey I volunteered to take on religion in Second Life today, and took some time afterward to wander around the land. As I was walking back from the Celtic cross I have on a sub-island, look what I spotted sitting on my bridge! He was a friendly type — didn’t move an inch when I bent closer to talk to him. I felt like Snow White for a minute, singing to the birds in the forest….
Snow White didn’t dress like this, though, which I found at a side location while I was picking up my eyeshadow for this shoot. Green and black leather, fitting nicely, soft and supple when I move. I matched this dress with new rings and earrings from Modern Couture, and a bracelet from Zuri Rayna.
And, at last, a long hairstyle I enjoy! The Tsubasa wig from Argrace fits wonderfully, doesn’t stuff itself into my boobs, and is modifiable for color to the jelly-bean colors I choose for some of my characters. I can see Ariel in her trademarked dark blue shade with this hair when she doesn’t have it in an updo; and as for more normal shades, look at Sharra here. There are more shades available in both dark and light red, of course, as well as other colors. If long hair is your preference, try this one out for sure!
Finally, once again, it’s MEME TIME!!!! Strawberry Singh is trying to reactivate her popular Monday Memes as of last week, though she can’t promise she’ll keep them up constantly. I can’t blame her for that lack of promise — coming up with meme ideas is a lot of work, week after week!
This challenge is called “Never Have I Ever.” It’s simple: copy and answer the questions below, and remember to link back to Berry’s article, so she knows you’re playing along.
For us Americans, it’s ‘Super Tuesday’ today. ‘Super Tuesday’ is the unofficial name for a Tuesday (March 1st this year) during the US Presidential Primary election when the largest number of states hold their primaries or caucuses. These are the States participating today: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia for […]
(From Harper:) As of this writing time, you still have the chance to in most, if not all, of the states today. If you’re registered and you haven’t gone to the polls yet, get there now! If nothing else, this gives us the right to bitch in the end.
Here are some photo tips from Strawberry Singh, which I discovered today on New World Notes — thanks, Ham! Even old hands can learn new things, and I discovered some goodies about WindLight and Firestorm I didn’t know about.
Be prepared for maybe a minute of dead air at the beginning as Berry is getting things set up; don’t touch your dial, as she’ll come in soon. Additionally, be prepared for a photobombing visitor in the background close to the end — a rather “EEEwwww”-worthy Hallowe’en clown (grin).
