Harper hasn’t written much about Zana Sherman as a grown adult yet in her Ariel Sherman stories; she’s mainly looking at Zana’s early years when she puts the girl in one of her Ariel stories.  But she does have one story, where she has Zana in her twenties appearing between the main sections of her as a child, getting ready to watch a documentary of her life as the first naturally-born cyborg.   (It’s a long story; she’s outlined it for me, so ask Harper for the details.)  When she wants a photo of Zana as an adult, Harper comes to me.

If you want something that looks futuristic, two places to go to are sYs and Zibska.  With careful choices, the avant-garde selection of clothes at sYs will fill the bill quite nicely, while still be wearable day-to-day around the Grid.  And Zibska…well, most of Zib Scaggs’ wigs and makeup are definitely on the rising side of the fashion curve — as in “attaining escape velocity.”

Here’s a nice mix of goodies for your consideration, including one of Zibska’s new hairstyles available at Hair Fair 2015.  As for the outfit, the Hesiod pants are constructed of Neoprene — wetsuit rubber, in other words, and nicely fitting, with a button fly.  The pants are paired in the set with mid-sleeved crop tops in luxuriant materials.  And these sandals have heels that I love:

I’d hate walking on these for a long term in RL, but they’re magnificent in Second Life.

The focus for now, of course, is Hair Fair.  We move to Zibska, then, and her Titan style, one of five available.  It comes with a box of hairbases; considering some of the scripted colors available, you’ll want it.  I went conservative in this case, and stuck with blonde.  And how does one get your hair wound up into a pair of chain-link strands?  Don’t ask me, man; all I know is that it looks great!  I added on Zibska eyeshadow, which may or may not still be available, as Zib staged a clearance recently, and my usual (not available) Liquid Glaze liner.  Not a bad look overall for someone who is off duty on a space station!

Hair Fair is among us again, and the crowds should have eased a little by now. I, however, was one of the foolish, uh, brave ones who plunged into the thick of things on the first night and worked my way, walk or cam, through all four sims. I came up with several items, among which is what I have on my head now, from sYs.

…When at dawn she sighs, and like an infant to the window

If I’m going to be wearing fresh hair, I might as well be wearing fresh clothes, and so I dropped into Junbug. Their region has a large pond in the middle with a board walkway circling it. There is a great supply of water lilies and waterweed there, which gave me the idea to look up a poem involving lilies.

…When her mother tends her before the laughing mirror,
Tying up her laces, looping up her hair,
Often she thinks, were this wild thing wedded,

A concern: I wish I could remove the pin in the wig which you see here, at least at times. A minor objection, but I hope Systi will consider making this “disappearable” in future.

INSILICO Central, the core of the space-platform habitat built by that massive trans-stellar cartel, was a place that hummed with business any time of the station day. And that was the way Laurel America Auttenberg liked it. After all, what was the use of spending several trillion credits in building a tin can like this out in the middle of the big black — but strategically at the contact point between five of the strongest stellar economies in the sector — unless you were going to be doing a lot of business.

And making sure all of that business got done, with as few hiccups governmental or otherwise as possible, had become her personal job some eleven years ago.

The lyrics, from Stephen Sondheim’s Pacific Overtures, tell of how Japan was in the years before Commodore Matthew Perry broke the ban against foreigners and trade with other countries in 1853. His “four black dragons” — American steam-powered warships — arrived in a land very much like the world you find in Taka no Sakura, a build of a classic Japanese village from the feudal period. Other things seem to float at times — like a beautiful strapless dress. Prism offers us the new Carolina dress, a lovely strapless cocktail gown in three different colors, with rich patterning on the overskirt and bustier, and a jewel-buckle belt.

Simplicity seems to be called for here, and so I choose one of the simpler sets of jewelry from Lazuri — still chunky and substantial, but much less heavy than other of her collections.  It is HUD driven, like most of her pieces; each one can be controlled individually, or you can click on the necklace to change the metal and major gems on all pieces simultaneously.

If you follow me on Plurk, you know I’ve been out of town.  I got back in time to check out the last day of the Fiera avant-garde event, and picked up a few things I’m wearing here from Zibska, along with other goodies from various stores.  This outfit doesn’t really scream avant garde to me, but it’s excellent and can work for multiple occasions.
